Education Foundation Scholarship
2017 marks the 25th year the Hilton Head Area Home Builders Education Foundation has been awarding scholarships to local graduating seniors. As a result of successful fundraising and monetary contributions from HBA members as well as others within the community; the Foundation surpassed its annual goal and was able to increase the scholarships from eight in 2015 to ten in 2016. The Foundation hopes this success and support from HBA members and the community will continue in 2017.
Scholarship Criteria
Eligibility is open to any graduating high school senior who is a U.S. citizen and legal resident of Beaufort County, Jasper County or Hampton County, with financial need, proven academic work ethic, demonstrated community service and solid character, and who has been accepted or plans to attend a post-secondary education program, including a four-year or two-year college or university, trade or technical school or certification program.
Application must include the following items:
Scholarship application
Typed essay (500 words or less) describing student’s top achievements, how these achievements have prepared them for the future and how the Hilton Head Area Home Builders Education Foundation Scholarship will impact their education and future.
Certified copy of most recent transcript(s)
Resume (outlining accomplishments, school involvement and community service)
Two letters of recommendation
Name of college or technical school/program student will be attending (colleges applied to if unknown)
Application should be submitted one of the following ways:
• Sent United States Postal Service to PO Box 22360, Hilton Head Island, SC 29925
• Hand delivered to 386 Spanish Wells Road, Suite C-1, Hilton Head Island
Applications must be submitted or postmarked by 3:00 PM Friday, April 7, 2017
